Moses’ Red Sea, Part 2 – The Infusion of God!

Hopeless – Despair – Depression  depression

These are the characteristics of many people today.

And why is that?  Usually because of some traumatic situation in their lives.

  • a child or someone they love has wrongfully died
  • a spouse has left
  • abuse of any kind
  • some kind of brutalization or crime, etc.

Then people are left with the aftermath – dealing with feelings of being lost and having no hope, depressed, etc.

An elderly couple I met was sharing their sad story with me recently – their son and  grandson was living with them because their daughter in law had left her family and decided to go into a life of drugs and was now living on the street.  The effects of her abandoning her family had turned the grandson into a quiet, withdrawn young teen and very uncertain around women.  The boy’s father was angry and depressed, hiding in his room most of the day.

This story made me sad for more reasons than the obvious.   I was mostly sad because God was not present in this story.  You know why?  Because He has not been asked to be present.

holdingGod grieves and hurts deeply – I can’t stress this effectively enough to express God’s heart – but please, please know that God hurts when we hurt.  And He longs to be present to work to change things.  BUT HE NEEDS TO BE ASKED!

You see, God chose to partner with us in this life.  He doesn’t need a partner.  He can act independently of us but He doesn’t want to.

We as His people are called to infuse the heart of God in EVERY situation we face – every Red Sea we encounter.

So in everything we face, we need to be asking, “What is God’s heart here?  What does God want to happen?”.

For example, what does God want in the situation of the elderly couple regarding their son and grandson?

Was it God’s will their daughter in law left to a life of drugs?  Of course not!  So what should be the reaction?  – Pray in the Spirit – Pray God’s heart and will.  God wants her back.  So pray for her to come to her senses, to repent, and COME BACK!

John 14:14 – If you ask Me anything in My name I will do it.

This is the heart of God – this is His will.  He will do ANYTHING we ask as long as it is what He wants.  What an amazing promise!  This is our part of this partnership.  He promises He will give us what we ask but we have to ASK!

It’s crucial we BELIEVE in the heart of God.  And trust in His Spirit to be acting according to the heart of God.

So now how about the son and grandson?  What is God’s heart, His will here?  I’m glad you asked!

Their job is to walk in faith, trust, and hope in God that He is working.  Because as long as we are praying – He is working!  Faith, hope, and trust chase away depression.  Depression many times comes when we have no hope of change.  But Satan is a good liar and is good at convincing us that there is no hope.

OUR JOB AS HIS PEOPLE IS TO INFUSE HIS HEART IN EVERY SITUATION.  So what Red Sea are you facing that needs the heart of God?

There truly is no real reason for hopelessness, despair, and depression.  Why?  Because when God’s Spirit is INFUSED into your situation, you can trust that He is working, that He has purpose in all adversity.  And that He is working to change your situation.  There is always hope that He will changes things when He has accomplished what He desires.

Father, I confess that I have not had the faith in You I need.  I have looked at life with my own eyes rather than through Your eyes.  Help me to see my Red Sea with the understanding that You are working out a greater purpose.  Help me to be patient and  trusting while I wait on You.  Amen.
